If you had a quick look at this community's profile recently, you might have noticed that as of today we only have half of the icon journals left on our friends list. I did some major spring/summer cleaning and unfriended all icon journals that did not have a public icon post in 2008. Journals with no updates as well as locked journals won't show up on our friends list, and therefore defeat the purpose of this journal. I also removed journals that moved away from icons to - well, other things, like resources, fanmixes, fanfiction. So all journals with more posts concerning those things than actual icon posts are gone, too.
Last, but not least, all 'moved' journals have been removed as well. I did however follow the trail of new icon journals, and if I ended up at a currently updated journal I friended it, if it hadn't already been on the watchlist (which most of them had, that's why there are so few journals left at the moment).

So we went from 960 friends to 444, which should clean up the friends list and also makes room for new friends :) As always, if you would like me to add your icon journal, or if you know other icon journals that you think should be added (or if you revived an unactive journal that was previously listed), just leave me a comment.

Thanks :)

The Friends List

This community was originally created to serve Icon-Search.com, a directory for icon journal POSTS. It started out pretty well, but at some point we had to face the fact that it was a really idealistic idea, and even with all those motivated people helping out there was just NO WAY that we would have been able to archive all icon posts on LJ unless every single icon maker would have added his posts himself :)

I am still trying to get some order into the jungle that is LiveJournal though: I created the unofficial LJ-Directory.com where you're free to add all journals you own and know :)

So what about this journal now?
It's still a way of keeping track of all the new icons that have been created, to look at them and be inspired by them. So feel free to just bookmark the friends page for that.
And it's also a great pool of fresh awesomness to nominate at icon awards communities, such as iawards :)

I am adding new journals constantly (at this point more than <s>600</s> <s>800</s> 900!), but feel free to comment if you'd like to me add yours. As I am trying to add only the actual icon journals instead of icon communities there shouldn't be double icon posts. But you might find a few non-icon posts with pictures, resources, layouts and other useful things :)

Please Note: I will NOT friend MEMBERS ONLY icon journals. I don't really care about what you do with your journal, but your entries wouldn't show up on the friends list anyway, so it'd basically be a waste of friends spots. Sorry.

watch those icons!

BTW, this is the second LJ identity of her_quiddity, which is ONLY used to friend icon journals, because - well, I couldn't think of any other way and surprisingly enough the username wasn't taken :)

BTW 2, this most amazing layout override was provided by thefulcrum :) thanks!

Edit June 14th I added/friended more than 100 new icon journals. But I'm afraid I won't be able to add many more, because apparently LiveJournal has a limit of 1000 friends for free accounts :(

Edit July 12th It's times like these where I hate the "new" list of friends even more and wish we still had the simple list on the user info page, so you guys could easily see if your journal is already listed or not without scrolling through ten pages of friends *sigh*
